Greetings comrades, Due to Johnny and I only being able to carry a tiny tiny shcedule of scattered bimonthly shows I'm in search of other places and people to play with. I placed an ad on a local Halifax "Scene" website and have actually got a couple responses I'm gonna touch base with those two people and see who is most promising and also keep my eyes open for anyone else who may be able to sing for me. Eventually what will happen once something gets really rolling is we'll open another forum within this forum.. so your subcategories will be Band Stories, JR Brontide, General Discussion and whatever the new project becomes known as. Once we start playing around here we'll name drop the forum here to people who come out and hopefully gather some more steam in here... nobody is likely to read this since theres been no reason to visit here lately... but when/if things pick up we'll send emails to all members reminding them that we're still alive.
Thanks Rick

Wel it works like this, one of the people I'm thinking about playing with has experience playing in a few places in Antigonish, I have Amherst and we both have HRM so if we get together playing in 3 different places like that would be hella sweet... like no bands from around here really leave here ya know? It'd be like a little world tour haha

Howdy all Here's the dealio for some reason my computer isn't letting me sign in properly.. I'll work on getting that fixed now that I know the forum isn't what is buggered up.. Anyway recently here are the newest happenings.. Johnny has ordered a doubleneck epiphone which will rock everyones socks off. This weekend I'm going 12 string shopping and hopefully I'll come home with a new 12 string. Johnny and I haven't really been playing or talking about playing very much.. the next time he doesn't work on a Monday night however we will be playing at Gingers for open mic night.. and Eventually you'll be able to catch me with other people at the open mic.. whenever I'm gonna drop down I'll let people on here know a little in advance... Maybe I'll take Kelly's advice and try something out with her sometime... Anyway there are surely other stories I can tell so I'll venture to other corners of this place to spread word
Stay Gold Rick

Hey All! Lastnight Johnny and I cmae out of retirement so to speak and played at an open mic gig at Ginger Pub here in Halifax... We Opened up with "dream song" by John and then we played freshmen by the vervepipe and then when i'm king by great big sea followed by turn the page by bob segar... I then left the stage to Johnny and he played and sang Clumsy by Our Lady Peace. Afterwards we both felt a little out of place I suppose.. like we could have done more or fit in a little better... there were alot of really solid players and singers all doing all original tunes and we were doing covers so it was weird for us... but next time we'll focus more on the originals. Hopefully we'll start playing more often now.. even if it is only Mondays at Gingers for awhile.

Well kids I still haven't resolved my computer problem with signing in and whatnot but I can always just post as a guest I suppose. The newest news from the homefront is that we've (Johnny more specifically) have written a few new songs and will be showcasing them at Gingers Pub tomorrow night... This performance will go a lot more smoothly than last time I think.. we're going to change things up a little bit due to the setup of the venue... They only have 1 direct box which means online one instrument can be plugged in at a time. Johnny and myself like to plug our guitars in because then you don't need to worry about a microphone in front of your guitar. So what we're going to try is John will just sing and this will let him focus on that side of things primarily and I'll just play guitar. I think anyone who is able to make it to the show already knows about it from talking to me personally.. but its nice to keep things updated on here... although its a desert here lately. So yea. Monday December 12th, Gingers Pub, 10pm JR Brontide: John Vriend on Vocals & Rick Horsman on Guitar... be there aight! Stay Gold Rick

Well we shit the bed on getting our friend Tara and couldn't find her house.... thus we got to the venue later than expected and couldn't get a suitable position on the signup list for that night... so we ended up just watching other people perform.. Evan Kolvoord played with some other fella and they did a song called Mr Scary... hilarious song... besides that it was a pretty EMO night.. there was a fella who had a programmed keyboard thinger and he was fun to make fun of but was generally a hack who we didn't much care for.... but definitely google Evan Kolvoord.. you might find www.evankolvoord.comhe's a great guy that Johnny and I are lucky enough to know outside of open mic night.... amazing harmonica player.. like UNREAL... anyway and just before we left there was a guy playing who was impossible to watch... his mannerisms were toooo fucking weird to watch... he looked like as johnny said "every memeber of the rolling stones wrapped into one" but yea we never got to play this time around

Well I thought that I would be the first to say it, and beat Rick to it but Happy Holidays everyone! (I'd say Merry Christmas but it's the "politically correct" way of doing things) So I hope everyone enjoys their holidays and families.
